Huntly Bypass

Four lane section of Waikato Expressway

The Huntly section is the fifth section of the Waikato Expressway to start since 2009. The project will see a 15.2km four-lane expressway built between the completed Ohinewai and Ngaruawahia sections. It will connect to the existing expressway at Ohinewai with an interchange providing north-facing ramps connecting to the existing SH1. The section will connect to the completed Ngaruawahia section at the Gordonton Road interchange.

The Waikato Expressway is a four-lane highway which extends from the Bombay Hills to south of Cambridge. The expressway, which is part of the Roads of National Significance programme, is being built in seven sections (including the Huntly Bypass section) and will provide a more effective and efficient transport network connecting the business centres of Waikato, Auckland and Bay of Plenty. It will improve economic growth by more efficiently moving people and freight.
