Waiheke Island Pavement Rehabilitation Projects

Bartley Consultants have partnered with Opus International Consultants to deliver the professional services for Auckland Transports annual programme of works on the Hauraki Gulf Islands. This work comprises all of the investigation, design and monitoring required to ensure that the Roading, Drainage and Structures major maintenance and renewal programmes of work are delivered on time, to cost and to a consistently high standard.

On Waiheke Island, the roading component of work typically involves widening and strengthening existing road pavements, which are no longer providing a suitable level of service, to cater for future traffic demands and to meet the needs of cyclists and pedestrians. Many of the roads need to be widened with footpaths provided and this often requires the construction of retaining walls to support the increased formation width. In coastal areas it is also common for additional road side parking to be provided. Bartley Consultants have been involved in delivering the annual roading programme of works on Waiheke Island since 2006. Some of the more significant roading projects have included:
  • The upgrade of Ocean View Road between the Matiatia Ferry Terminal and Mako Street.
  • Upgrade of The Strand, Third Ave, Fourth Ave, Fifth Ave, Sixth Ave and adjacent parking areas at Onetangi.
  • Te Toki Road/ Palm Road / Hill Road Intersection improvements.
  • The rehabilitation of 2.8km of Waiheke Road.
  • The rehabilitation of 2km of Orapiu Road.
  • The rehabilitation of Hill Road from Palm Road Shops to Matapana Road and from Palm Road to Junction Road.
